The Small Birds have passed over the lips of countless singers of traditional music from the Celtic homelands and beyond; words that have been sung in Irish, Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, Broad Scots, English and perhaps the languages of every shore that Celtic people have ever sailed to or from.
The Small Birds have marked the passage of time for stories sung in every genre of Celtic song, and set the stage of imagination over many centuries.
I can't think of any other single theme that connects as much of this music that I love, as do The Small Birds, so I think that it is fitting that The Small Birds occupy a significant space in my repertoire, and not just admired, as they fly through our imaginations and grace our presence in song.
